  • Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco Incubator

    2 Review(s)

    Great Value Incubator

The Octagon 20 Eco combines the high quality engineering of Brinsea with a low- ticket cost. By replacing digital controls with simple to use manual controls (it comes preset and ready to incubate chickens), they have made this incubator more accessible to hobby breeders or new breeders. With a 24 Chicken egg capacity, there is plenty of room here to get a new breeding project off to a great start! This listing does not include the autoturn cradle, but the unique octagon design of these incubators makes manual turning much easier than with most devices- all you have to do is rock the incubator on to the 3 flat surfaces on the bottom, changing position about once every 4 hours. With most incubators, you would need to manually turn every single egg by hand! So even with manually turning, it still provides significant time savings over other manual turning incubators. Of course, you can also add an auto-turn cradle at any time for greater ease of use.

    Great Value With Automatic Turning

Brinsea has worked hard to bring their high quality engineered incubators to the general public. Everyone deserves to have a high quality incubator at a reasonable price, and the Octagon 20 Eco Incubator with Autoturn cradle is the ideal solution. By replacing digital controls with simple to use manual controls (it comes preset and ready to incubate chickens), they have made this incubator more accessible to hobby breeders or new breeders. Not only is this incubator easy to use and provides high hatch rates, it also comes with an automatic turn cradle to help save you time. Although manaul turning is much easier with the Octagon line than with other incubator brands, you still have to be there in order to turn it. With the autoturn cradle, you can feel less like a mother hen constantly tending to her eggs. With a 24 Chicken egg capacity, there is plenty of room here to get a new breeding project off to a great start!

Bird Egg Incubators

All the bird incubators listed here are suitable for most species of poultry, fowl, and game birds. They will all maintain consistent temperature and adequate humidity which is needed for bird egg incubation. However, we do recommend certain incubators for specific kinds of birds, such as for rare and exotic eggs, or birds that lay larger eggs.

Bird Egg Incubator Considerations

Egg Quantity

The first consideration is how many eggs you want to incubate. If you are incubating less than 50 eggs, and with no plans to increase, you will be fine using any of the tabletop incubator models (that fit your other considerations). If you are incubating more eggs than that, or are planning to incubate more eggs in the future, then you have a couple of options. First is to buy multiple tabletop incubators. This could do well for you if you are hatching different types of eggs that require drastically different environments for hatching. However, if you are incubating in large quantities, then you will want to check out our cabinet incubators. We offer a variety of sizes and prices for these larger incubators, and they can be combined into a larger incubation operation.

Egg Sensitivity

Many common eggs will hatch with just the basic amount of care. However, when hatching rare or exotic bird eggs, you will want to invest in a incubator that gives you a great amount of control for your hatch. Some eggs can be very difficult to hatch, and not all bird incubators allow for high levels of precision. A small incubator that only holds a few eggs at a time can help you to get greater control because you have a smaller space to regulate. The Brinsea Mini Advance is a great unit that has full digital controls and allows you to easily dial your temperature up or down. It is also available in the EX version that features an automatic humidity pump for even greater control. Looking for a larger model? The R-Com King Suro incubator offers a larger capacity, as well as digital controls and an automatic humidity pump. Looking for even more? Then the top of the line, R-Com 50 Pro with USB may be right for you! With the ability to monitor your stats from the computer and graph your incubator conditions, this is perfect for someone who is really looking to perfect their breeding.

Egg Size

Many bird egg incubators come with trays or racks that are intended for a specific size egg. For many breeders, this is ideal. If you are hatching goose eggs, you will want to get an incubator that comes with a goose egg turner, such as the GQF HovaBator 2362 & Goose Egg Turner Combo. This is intended to hold larger eggs, so it is more durable and uses a basket rather than a cup design. However, if you want to hatch a variety of egg sizes, then you may want to go with an incubator that offers moveable dividers. This allows you to adjust your spacing, and you could incubate both turkey and quail eggs at the same time! R-Com and Brinsea both offer several incubators with adjustable dividers, like the R-Com Maru Cabinet Incubators and the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance.
